Painting Diary and other Things

Well, my finger is starting to heal. Gentle scab forming (which is nice), got rid of some loose, dry, dead skin earlier with the toenail clippers. Have had it bandage-free since I got back from work which is helping.

Can’t believe this fuel thing, weird. We’ve got enough petrol (4star LRP, still a bit to be had) to last us until the weekend I guess. See what happens then. I can’t believe people think the government should cave-in, even if taxes are too high, they can’t knee-jerk, otherwise it’ll spell disaster. The money has to come from somewhere, otherwise next year people will be moaning that schools and the NHS are suffering.

I’ve opened a new diary at the Live Journal site, to record my miniature painting activity, instead of half in here and half on the old pages. You can get to it here. Ah well, back to the paint pot.

finger2finger1

please excuse the lack of capital letters. i’ve sliced open the little finger of my right hand, and can’t really use that hand atm.

so i’m typing left handed.

these two photos show the dressed wound (we’ve taped two fingers together to stop movement opening the wound).

it’s worse than it looks in the pictures 🙁

ah well, last time i wash that cup.

NewsMangler

Just messin’ about with NewsMangler, adding some more features to the telnet interface.

Getting very annoyed at folk on usenet who refuse to even accept that there might be some best common practices for formatting and behaviour. Some folk just have no respect or any sense of community.

Wights!

Them flippin’ mounted Wights

So, here I am still painting ’em! The undercoating was a failure (didn’t cover enough area), so I’m having to essentially paint them black, and then put the colouring on. The mounts are sorted (except for the leader’s horse).

The wights themselves are getting there. Exposed bone done, just starting on the material (scab red) and then it’s a case of touching up the black armour and dry brushing silver.

I swore I’d finish them today, but it’s taking ages to put the scab red colouring on them, and then it needs a black wash, and then drybrushing, long before I get to doing the armour, so I’m not sure now.

We need a bigger house.

Does anyone want to buy a house in Stockon on Tees? £33,950, 3 bedrooms, mid-terrace. Let me know if you do.

Paints …

The skeleton mounts for the Wights are coming along ok. Black undercoat, bleached bone liberal dry-brush, wash with a flesh ink, and then another bleached bone drybrush (less liberal).

Seems to get the desired effect. Now I need to work out the details, teeth, eyes, hooves, etc.

Grete is still at Karen’s, working on the dress for the banquet tomorrow night. I miss her.
