Once again, ages since the last update. But, here I am.

Still have a house I don’t want – are you sure you don’t want to purchase it? 3 bedroom terrace, Stockton-on-Tees?

Got my tax return in and done in the end, and in time for them to work out how much I owe, rather than having to do it myself.

Their on-line system leaves a lot to be desired, only covers 1/10th of the forms and you have to work your tax out yourself. Hmm, might start scouting around for some tax-aware home-finance software at some point.

Got a new car, probably didn’t mention it previously, 2 litre Mondeo. Nicer than the previous cars, seems ok. Too expensive, but then all cars are.

Work alternates from being terrible to terrific in the space of 30 minutes, which is interesting. We’re moving desks at the moment, so Monday may be hectic.

Rented Shaft and Pitch Black on DVD, both of them quite entertaining, although Pitch Black was probably more enjoyable overall.

Lord of the Rings – the trailer looks amazing! I have very high hopes. I mailed National Amusements in the UK (they run our local cinema), asking if they had plans for Lord of the Rings, and got a very nice reply telling me that if I wanted tickets for the Harry Potter movie, I should simply purchase them at the right time. Oh well 😉

The funniest movie since the last really funny movie.

Go and see it, it was excellent, I can _strongly_ recommend it.

It seems that at some point in my life, in between leaving school and starting work, I learned how to bury my head in the sand firmly enough to avoid worrying about anything, and ending up worrying about everything.

Oh well.

Time to really sort out the house (hey, I’ve heard that before).

Oh, and I hate cars.

Bored again, and another web page is the result. Still in development at the moment, but it’s here, Review-a-Rama. Somewhere for me to put into words how I feel about the stuff I use to entertain myself!

Another day, another dollar. Work seems quite mundane after the frantic activity. I guess it’ll feel normal again in a month or so!

Well, filling in a diary obviously isn’t something I’m very good at it would seem, sorry for that.

I’ve been working just about every day for about three weeks now, thanks 3Com, so glad you pulled out of the router business.

Money is still weird, life is still weird, houses are still depressing, loans are still annoying.

I’m still totally failing to keep in touch why any friends. I doubt I’ll have any left at this rate.

Grete is still amazingly wonderful.

Well, earned a little bit of extra cash doing some overtime, and thought I’d buy a new monitor. Went for a Sony Trinitron, they’re always good value.

It still hasn’t really sunk in. Douglas Adams is dead. No matter how many times I use the words, it still doesn’t really sink in.

I can see the closing credits of the TV series, the spaceman floating in space, that dodgy tune, and it brings back memories of being young and still understanding what Douglas was saying. A TV program for ‘grown-ups’ which I understood, which reached out to me, which said, yes the world is absurd, and it doesn’t get any better, but if you laugh hard enough it doesn’t matter as much.

I’m not usually affected by ‘celebrity death’. I don’t really idolise people, or feel like I know people that I haven’t actually met. But I feel like I miss Douglas already.

I found Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency such as soul-touching book. I can’t explain why. I’m not sure I’d want to if I could. But I just felt as though it fit me like an old coat.

In an interview with Stan Nicholls, Douglas said, “A lot of comedy is surprise and defeating expectations, and you’ve first got to create a set of expectations …”

I expected him to live forever. I suppose he had the last laugh.

So, goodbye Douglas.

It’s like 10 years since I wrote anything in the diary. Kind of.

Well, work has been insanely busy, and will be until the end of May, the last Omega event was cool, although it was muddy and we lost our car keys (which wasn’t cheap). Looking forward to the August event.

Life is generally ok, Grete’s really busy with friends and the gym and am-dram 😉
