1. Introduction

It appears as though the developers have broken free of their chains, and are allowed to talk to the players again. All the feedback from the Sony summit says roughly the same thing - the developers are passionate about the game, they want to improve it, and now they're once again allowed to do so. Sony admit that Gates was a huge mistake, and are making sure they listen to what the players want. Now is the time to take part in discussions on forums about the game, because Sony are listening.

The newsletter is not a replacement for the board, and more often than not will just summarise something and provide a link - so, go sign up and take part - pub21.ezboard.com/btrulynaughtytroop

You've already signed up to get the newsletter, obviously ;) , but I'd like to encourage you to get your guild-mates to sign up as well. The more folk signed up the better. E-mail addresses will be kept private, and will only be used to send out this newsletter on a weekly basis, so it's safe to sign up. Spread the word!

If you feel like contributing something to the newsletter, or have any feedback on it, please drop me a mail at tnt-newsletter@darkstorm.co.uk and I'll see what I can do.

Hedge - 17 people from TNT completed the PoN Hedge event and got flagged for PoNB. It was tough, never easy, and always on edge, but it was great fun. Thanks to everyone who made it so. (p087.ezboard.com/ftrulyna...201.topic)

HoT - the HoT raid on 5th June was a roaring success, at least 11 armour drops, and our quickest pull/kill rate to-date. Lots of new raiders got to see the zone as well. (p087.ezboard.com/ftrulyna...199.topic)

Sadly, Laanyan and Sileldar have left the guild (their alts remain at present) - we wish them well.

4. Zone-mania

From Siddhaya,

Mines of Nurga:

I am currently trying to make Siddhaya non-KOS in Chardok to make future King-kills much faster and easier (of course this is partly pure selfishness as Zargol still needs this kill :) . Besides killing goblins in Frontier Mountains for faction, salts and skins I often two-box in the mines of Nurga.

Pros: Zone with dark-blue mobs (for level 58) from the beginning that hit not too much (max low 100s). Zone-modifier (though not as good as PoP). A lot of named mobs that drop nice loot that sells for some cash or can be used for twinking chars in the 30s-40s. Killing will give you faction hits pro Chardok. Mobs drop a decent amount of cash and vendor-loot. Melee bind point near (there are old ruins west and a bit north of Nurga entrance - was a secret once, today there's an NPC there telling you just that information ;) ).

Cons: Mobs run, so bring a snarer. The zone is quite a bit off. I usually take FV-book, Dreadlands, Frontier Mountains, Nurga. If you have no cleric/pally with you - do not die.

Tips & Tricks: When zoning in you stand in some shallow water. The usual way to start exploring is to levitate down the waterfall to your left. This will bring you to some green-to-58 mobs that get harder as you go deeper into the dungeon. The trick for higher levels or the more adventerous type is to take a right turn and swim *up* the small waterfall there. I usually manage to do by just having Spirit of Eagle but after a shrink (gnome illusion does as well) you really should have no problems swimming up. The mobs up there are mostly dark-blue to 58 (I mention 58 so often because that's the level of my two-box druid). Just follow further in, mobs on the far end of the mines are even dark blue to 65. Monks have to visit those mines at least once for the fight with the Earthen Fist (part of epic).

If after a few kills you find Nurga too boring you can switch over to Temple of Droga where you find mobs that are a bit harder and nameds that drop even better loot (most famous probably being the Copper Hammer of Striking off of the king). If you want to do that beware that the eastern zone to Droga is only one way out from Nurga, the other is only one way in.

------------ // ------------

5. Help Wanted

Moonebeam still needs spider silks. 6 points to go till mini-grandmaster status! (200 skill level) Also needed is someone willing to numb their mind and farm groundspawns in Kaladim. Equal numbers of both kinds of mushroom are needed (the groundspawn does NOT spawn them in equal quantities). For each stack of mushrooms, one stack of Kaladim Constitutional will be repaid.

------------ // ------------

6. Help Offered

Moone has the following skill levels in tradeskills (actual numbers to follow), and is usually willing to do any combines that are reasonably expected successes for guildies. Anything that is extremely high above her skill level will be attempted if the person in need insists, but disclaimers regarding likely failure apply.

Baking (250 + tropy) [252 effective skill]
Pottery (219 + geerlok) [229 effective skill]
Brewing (200 + geerlok) [210 effective skill]
Blacksmithing (200 + geerlok) [210 effective skill] {Wood Elf, for cultural}
Jewelcraft (200 + geerlok) [210 effective skill]
Fletching (200 + geerlok) [210 effective skill] {Wood Elf, for cultural}
Tailoring (194 + geerlok) [203 effective skill] {Wood Elf, for cultural}

If all components are supplied, there is no charge for combines. If components are needed, charge for combine will depend on price and availability of said components.

Don't forget - there's also a section of the website where people can record their tradeskills to help others out - check it here - p087.ezboard.com/ftrulyna...ID=3.topic

From Maeven/Snowfyre,

My first raid was the one Saturday the 5th - I know Ser wanted us to post at the boards, but I forgot until just now :) I had a wonderful time! I wish RL would allow me to attend more of them. I hope I wasn't too much of a "noob" in the actual execution. Maeven really appreciated the guidance and advice from guildees who patiently answered tell questions and/or sent me tidbits to keep me afloat. A heartfelt thank you to them! I was operating on the "keep your eyes & ears open, learn all you can mode." I don't know how it went for others, but I felt it was rather smooth and directions were clear. It seems like we got some nice drops.

Most of all though, I appreciated the chance to do something with members of the guild I don't normally see or group with. There are times I feel I miss out on "truly" belonging because my toons are not high enough to hang with what seems to be the "core" Troop or because real life schedules conflict with fun! :) I'm glad I got to go this time.

Be Naughty!

1. Introduction

18 weeks on, and the newsletter is still here. It needs more input from you guys, but I'll keep plodding along with it anyway.

Sony is taking more notice of it's customers, and they are making an obvious effort to find out what people think is wrong with the game. Checking through class boards and other EQ related sites shows an increased presence from Devs asking people what they think is wrong, Sony putting some kind of community gathering together, a huge increase in the feedback on the EQLive forums etc. I don't care why Sony is doing this, I'm just glad they are.

It still makes me sad (yes, even Evil people can be sad) to see developers talking about stuff on the EQLive forums, and idiots posting three page rants about stuff the developers can obviously do nothing about, or moaning at the developers about how long it took for them to start talking back. It's usually not their fault folks - don't give them a hard time just when they're starting to talk to us.

The newsletter is not a replacement for the board, and more often than not will just summarise something and provide a link - so, go sign up and take part - pub21.ezboard.com/btrulynaughtytroop

DING!! Laanyan hit 65, grats :)

HoT - HoT went better than ever. Loads of drops. No deaths. A lot has to do with the increasing average level of the raids there, but it's also an indication of our increased confidence and ability. We're still too reliant on individuals, could we do HoT as easily if Rif wasn't there for example? But we're farming HoT now, not struggling to raid it, and that's a major achievement in my view. Get your toons to 55, get them at least dubious to CoV, and get them to HoT for some armour upgrades.

Serayus has added a number of new sections to the EZ board forum, they are for Vex Thal keys and PoP progression, pop along and take a look.

Snowfyre makes an interesting point,

"I've always used "gtg" as "good to go" and that has been my experience on Torvo. I WAS playing another server the other day (trying out a new class) and "gtg" was used more as "got to go" Was a surprise to me when the tank said ok GTG and logged.... lol Wasn't the first time I saw it there. Just curious as to what the majority have seen the usage as?"

Anyone else seen any odd server differences? I know camp names can vary wildly (on other servers, the BoT camps are called Earth, Water, etc. rather than South, West, etc.) but hadn't considered how different acronyms could be?

1. Introduction

Hello TNT!

A patch! And with any luck, they're going to fix the PoK crash bug (which has also been affecting people in PoEB, PoW and some other zones, but has been most obvious in PoK). Full details on this (including some nice detailed explanations and updates from the Devteam) can be found here eqforums.station.sony.com...age.id=727

Rumours of other features going live : the new customer services interface, changes to the bazaar (to allow you to hide other traders and reduce lag), an 'auto bank' feature, but note : until I see the patch message, these are just rumours ;)

I've seen reports in interviews that suggest the focus for EQ2 will be single group content, with no real focus on raiding, and thatpeople who want to raid large targets with lots of people should stick with EQ, which they are going to continue developing. It's an interesting statement from SOE, and it'll be interesting to see how true it turns out to be.

With pressure from World of Warcraft and Lineage II, it'll be interesting to see how Sony responds. Reading various forums, they certainly seem to be providing more information than they used to - the Devs are now talking to people on the Sony forums, and providing info about the whats and whys, which is nice.

-*-* Breaking news *-*-

Patch message is out - bazaar changes are in, as are a number of other interesting little tweaks. p087.ezboard.com/ftrulyna...=276.topic

1. Introduction

Hello again minions, welcome to the peons in the back. Welcome to the 16th edition of the legendary Truly Naughty Troop newsletter.

I want to talk about different types of guild, mainly two different types. Hero Guilds and Council Guilds. Council Guilds are led by a council of officers, but more importantly, the membership associates with the Council as their leading body, there isn't a single figurehead as such, with whom the guild associates. Hero Guilds on the other hand have a leader who is the figurehead for the guild, even if there is a council of officershelping out. The mood or tempo of the guild is generally tied to the Hero guild leader. Some of you may recognise this from Business theory, it works for guilds as well. Truly Naughty Troop is, in my evil and not so humble view, a Hero Guild. Yes, we have some officers, and they work together for our guild, but generally, Serayus/Torelian is the Hero leader of our guild, and the tempo and mood in the guild is linked to Serayus/Torelian. This places a strong burden of responsibility upon that hero leader, and an equally strong burden of responsibility on the members of the guild.

When Torelian isn't present, we're going to feel adrift, but when Torelian is present, we need to make sure we provide him with support and encouragement to make his job easier.

DING! Orth dinged 60 (and then 61) - grats Orth :)

Omens of War is coming soon - the new EQ expansion - everquest.station.sony.co.../index.jsp -looks like quite a bit of content. Did I already mention that in a newsletter? I can't remember.

EQII website has been revamped, and now contains a lot more information - everquest2.station.sony.com/

HoT Raid - hmm, wobbly start, good loot drops in the end. I'm sure I don't need to remind anyone that they may wish to avoid LDoN or specific duration activity, close to the start of a raid, especially when there's a risk of wiping and needing to recover. TNT wants everyone who can and wants, to attend the HoT raids, but there are some requirements you must meet before doing so, in summary - level 55 and non-KOS to CoV. The CoV faction is trivial to check before you get to Sontalak and he eats you (at least two people died to him). The raid started 2 hours late due to LDoN's over-running, and then people having issues with Sontalak and other creatures on the way to the raid. Remember, the raid start time is when we should start buffing, not when we should start travelling to the meeting location. Having said that - the raid was successful, lots of loot drops inall classes, and only a single death (and that was the puller, which isn't always possible to avoid). Hopefully the next one will be even better and will have an even higher attendance thanks to some faction work by Atrias/Cukrarn. You can check out all the HoT info here p087.ezboard.com/ftrulynaughtytroopfrm18 - and specific requirements of attending - p087.ezboard.com/ftrulyna...ID=6.topic (the first post talks about being Ally to CoV - you need that to hand in armour, so you should aim for it ASAP, but you only need to be non-KOS to attend).

1. Introduction

** UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT ** Mwahahahahahahaah

Dark Times ahead! Many singing the Doom of Everquest, major guilds leaving the game (FoH, Afterlife and Conquest, to name 3), not many people around, several people we know quitting the games, others leaving the guild, strong characters in the guild not present, and dare I say it, a feeling of a guild being slightly adrift.

Dark Times indeed, but not the worst of times. Lots of strong players still in the guild, new people joining, fixes to GoD in today's patch to make it more viable, announcement of a new expansion coming soon, a promise of a collision system fix which means less getting stuck in walls, and they fixed eye of zomm so it can open doors.

Time to remember why we play - for the company, the challenge, the adventure. Time to organise things, arrange things to do, reconsider your goals, and pick up the pace in the face of adversity.

Time for all of our officers to demonstrate strong leadership.
Time for all our members to demonstrate their desire to help organise events.

If this is the end, if EQ is failing, if we must fall, then it's time to do the fun things you always put off, time to finish those quests that always seemed like you'd get around to later, time to kill giants, time to waste dragons, time to train noobs - if the ground is rushing up and there is no way to stop - then best to hit it laughing at the last.

Ok, management are asking me to remind you not to train anyone, least of all noobs. I am here to comply.

2. News

Some people probably levelled - but since no one told me, I can't report it :p

Deerrunner has left the game to spend more time with his family - we wish his family the best of luck in light of this decision, and hope they can force him back into the game as soon as possible :p (p087.ezboard.com/ftrulyna...266.topic)

Gnomtrix finally managed to get kicked out of TNT, which is no less that the little runt deserved. (ok, so he actually left on his own - but I like to think he was kicked).

Goals! Serayus wants to know what goals you think the guild should have - this is your chance to take part -p087.ezboard.com/ftrulyna...=264.topic

[Know someone who dinged something significant? Let me know - I'm not always on (no, honestly) so sometimes don't get to see dingage]

3. Upcoming Events

HoT - May 15th - halls of test. Be there. 9am ADT/10am PDT/1pm EDT/5pm GMT at HoT. NOTE - SATURDAY not Sunday as normal. Link here p087.ezboard.com/ftrulyna...188.topic. I expect many dragons to die. Also, note the length change - four hours to allow for more carnage. Your guild needs you in the War Against Dragons (WAD) - be there, be ready, be angry, do damage.

PoJ Trial Day - When? Someone organise it. Someone suggest a day. TNT could get everyone (within reason) flagged (free AA!)

PoN Hedge Event - When? Requires three groups and about 1.5 hours. Good CC / Off-tanking required, strong tank and cleric needed for the final mob (eqbeastiary.allakhazam.co...?id=10370) who hits quite hard, but a defensive tank would be ideal. TNT can do this event.

PoS Giants for BoT key - When? Requires a few good groups, solid tank and healing, and good split pulling toget the drops required to get BoT flagged (free AA!) - TNT might be able to do this, who's going to pick it up and organise it? Why not find friends in other guilds for this or the previous events, and spend a few hours getting everyone the drops they need.

4. Zone-mania

Finally someone else sent some stuff in, ONE MORE PERSON needs to send stuff before next week, or I eat your souls :p

From Deyzed,

I'll give you two zones -

1) Plane of Nightmare - If you can get a good group, which must include an enchanter for CC, a puller who is good at chain pulling, a strong tank / cleric combo, the XP there will roll unbelievably fast. By chain pullin either 2 or 3 mobs once the last mob is down to about 15%, the chanter can mezz them in a line as they get near the camp, and keep them mezzed until the current mob is dead so the tank can move to the next. . .with this method, there is ZERO downtime, so long as tank keeps aggro and mobs don't resist mezz. . .too much.

2) Castle Mist Moore!! Ok, this may just be because of the recent "Hot Spot" but the XP here Roxxors and pulling is fast and fun. Jaenelle's beastlord and my bard went down there with the help of Storm Warden Moonebeam (c) and had a blast. Haha, I think I'm the first to reply to favorite spots!!

Oh yeah. . .I HATE PoK now. . .75% of the time I zone in there my computer either freezes or EQ just plain shuts off. . .ever since the Dx9 patch.

1. Introduction

Holy Cow it's May already! Mailing list membership is up to 55 readers, thanks to those who joined, welcome to the new folk, and don't forget to badger your guild-mates to sign up if they haven't yet. May, already, we're into the second quarter of the year, where's it all going?

Another patch gone by (and another one today!), more subtle changes, a new LDoN zone for the under 50's, and people are STILL getting stuck in the tree in PoK (I've TL'ed four people out, and I grew a halfling twice and that helped him escape).

I managed to abuse my body, hands, broadband connection, keyboard and stomach over the weekend here in the UK, doing virtually nothing but play EQ. Ah well, no change :)

On with the content (which you are encouraged to submit otherwise I'll just start pasting a link to the boards, come on, send it in).

DING! Congratulations to Moonebeam on hitting 65 :) Storm Warden Moonebeam :)

DING! Congratulations to Belkhanu on hitting 65 and getting HoV! MGB-HoV-arama!

Hot - we raided HoT again, and it was smoother than ever. One death (ranger ate rage), no aborted kill attempts, one named down, and various armour drops. I would encourage everyone who meets the pre-reqs for raiding HoT to come along to one of them at some point, they're more fun now we're more in control of the mobs, and ifwe can up the kill rate, we can drop more named dragons. I wrote a short review (p087.ezboard.com/ftrulyna...254.topic) and posted some logs (p087.ezboard.com/ftrulyna...255.topic)

3. Upcoming Events

Nothing planned at present, Serayus is talking about weekend of the 15th for his next scheduled raid, more details when I know it.

Don't forget - anyone in TNT can organised events, and if you get an officer involved it may be possible to get it DKP sanctioned - however fishing contents, lowbie-raids, epic battles, etc. are all something guild members should be able to organise. Remember the key elements - give people plenty of warning, give people plentyof information, talk to people in advance and find out when they can attend.

1. Introduction

13 is unlucky for some - but we're not superstitious, and so we decided not to skip the 13th edition and go straight for 14. We're staring 13 square in the face and daring it to cause us problems. We don't expect anything untoward to happen.

And now, it's Wednesday, and I can't check EZBoard to find out what's going on - 'cos they're moving all their servers to some other place in the universe. So I've sent out a note saying no newsletter until Thursday.

Another long patch for EQ, PoK for all, HOT zones, a new place to kill elves, lots of changes. Let's hope it's a good thing and not a last dying clutch.

The newsletter is not a replacement for the board, and more often than not will just summarise something and provide a link - so, go sign up and take part - pub21.ezboard.com/btrulynaughtytroop

Reaver-Mania - as the post says, let the facts speak for themselves - Reavers that respawned off of one reaver: 139, Total time: 1 hour 19 minutes, Jade Reavers looted: 11, Total raid party deaths: 0 - check out this thread - p087.ezboard.com/ftrulyna...=108.topic for more details. There's a message from Deerrunner at the end of the newsletter.

HoT Fun - well the HoT raid went quite well. Not many folk there, which always makes it a challenge and everyone worked twice as hard. Loads of plate dropped and a couple of pieces of silk. We even got an elusive Plate Breastplate. Hopefully more folk will have a chance to turn up for the one this coming Sunday - more enchanters required please (gating mobs caused us some problems).

Deerrunner writes (about the CoM thing),

Ok first off this was never meant to become a raid. It actually went something like this. Myself and Gemmie were in PON looking to get Pg 19 of Dark Power for the Cloak of the Wise. Several people were sitting around bored and offered to come help get it. We got that in like 10 minutes. Thanks to all that helped. Then Atrias asked if we could go get a Jade Reaver for his epic and Takenya asked if we could take down a mob in Steamfont for his epic. We headed to Steamfont, Vimhula asked if he could come so we had to make a raid to include the 7th member. We easily took down the barbie in SF for Tak and headed to COM. This is where things got interesting. News got out that we were goin for the Reavers and people started coming out of the woodwork volunteering to come and help out Atrias with his epic drop. Before we really realized what was happening we had 2 groups. We got in and started wasting reavers and more peeps started showing up and we were up to 3 groups. As noted in the previous post, we killed reavers till our fingers bled and still people were offering, and even heading in, to help us out without being asked. All the way up to the time when they stopped spawning we had people inbound to CoM to help. The response was fantastic. I want to thank all that showed up not so much for the great job they all did, and they did do a great job, but for being the kind of guildies that will jump at the chance to help out a guildy. As we say in the Navy, BRAVO ZULU to all involved.

Now on a different note as this was never planned or intended to become a raid, and I was accidentally put in the position of raid leader, no loot rules or other plans were laid for this event. I hope that all were pleased with the way we divvied up the loot and how the raid went off but I am sure that some of you would be happy to offer some constructive criticism. Please feel free to do so. I had a good time leading that whole flalex and will probably try to do something like it in the future so any pearls of wisdom you have would be appreciated. And again great job to all of you! You make me proud to be NAUGHTY.
